Activision Working On New Call Of Duty Game For iOS

Andy Payne has revealed that Activision’s new studio in Leeds is working to bring a new Call of Duty game to iOS. The hugely successful first-person shooter already has its name in the App Store, but the existing titles only provide access to the game’s “Zombies” element.

Payne told VideoGamer:

Activision are like a machine. I have to be careful what I say about these guys because I know them so well and they’ll cane me.

But Activision are a machine. They’re very good, and you know what, what people don’t realise with Activision is, the two studios working on the Call of Duty franchise are collaborative studios. That’s unheard of. All the assets are reusable, so they’re not wasting time.

And those assets are also going to be starting to be used by the mobile team, which is going to be based in Leeds.

According to Payne, the new Leeds studio, which was opening in November 2011, has been tasked with “developing all handheld versions, iOS versions of Call of Duty.” Presumably that means the team will also be working on the upcoming Black Ops: Declassified title for the PS Vita.

It will be pretty cool to have COD on your iPhone, however we have no set date or time. So do not expect this anytime soon.
